Eddie Diehl in his own words.... Born Eddie P. Diehl Jr. in Staten Island on June, 16, 1936. Was raised surrounded by music. My mother played piano, my father ukelele. There was ample influence from classical, pop & jazz. I played the uke during my 13th -14th years. Appeared on the Ted Mack radio show when I was 15. Started playing local gigs in senior year of high school. Moved to Manhattan in 1956. I worked at the NY Public Library where I met black musicians and started a decade long stint with social club dances for American, Cuban and Puerto Rican organizations. Played with the Nat Cole sing-alike Robert Harvel in '59. Others were Jack McDuff, Slide Hampton, Gloria Coleman, Miriam Makeba & Harry Belafonte. Later a short stint with Vic Damone. Then freelancing in NY with Bu Pleasant and Al Haig. Last steady work in the '70's was with the Billy Gardner Trio. I've lived in Poughkeepsie since 1984. I commuted to NYC in '85 to do a duo gig with Pat Patrick (father of Gov. Duval Patrick). Played thru the 90's with Harvey Kaiser's Kansas City Sound. My abilities as a repair (fretted instrument) craftsman has filled in the financial cracks along the way since 1965.

Lou Pappas, bass, has performed with jazz artists Jay McShann, Bill Watrous, Tom Scott and composer Patrick Williams. After three years with the Oklahoma City Symphony, he moved to New York to accept the position as Bassist with the United States Military Academy Band, West Point, New York. As a member of the “Jazz Knights,” he performed at jazz festivals throughout the United States along with such guest artists as David Liebman, Byron Stripling, James Williams, Claire Fischer, Randy Brecker, Billy Cobham, and fellow bassist John Clayton. He performed regularly with the “West Point Chamber Winds,” and gave the world premiere performance of Robert Baksa’s Sonata for Contrabass and Piano.
